Virtus' shareholders, directors, advisers and management team combine extensive bio-pharmaceutical and clinical development experience in industry and academia. Some have associations with the medical schools in South Africa and Canada . There is considerable expertise in the following therapeutic areas:

• Neurology and psychiatry: The team in North America and South Africa has conducted numerous studies on Alzheimer's disease. This expertise extends to studies in depression, schizophrenia and other disorders of the CNS.
• Endocrinology & metabolism: Diabetes, obesity and metabolic disorders are of increasing concern worldwide and in South Africa . We have conducted trials in this arena and have been engaged in basic research projects within the multi-national research based pharmaceutical industry.
• Infectious Diseases: HIV/AIDS and other infectious disorders are prevalent in South Africa . The team has conducted a number of studies in this arena and certain members continue their research activities in this area.
• Cardiovascular disorders: We have conducted trials in cardiovascular disease and intend to strengthen our advisory team by attracting more scientific advisers to the group.
